Lily's Project - CO2, where are you?
Lily really wanted to do soda and Mentos but so many other kids were doing it and she didn't want to do the same as anyone else. She still wanted to do something with soda and started thinking about what makes soda bubble and what kind of gas is in there. Dave told her you can find CO2 with lime water and we just happen to have the stuff to make lime water. She really enjoyed her experiment and it was successful. She took a straw and had the gas from a soda go straight into lime water. The lime water turned from clear to cloudy indicating the presence of CO2. It was awesome. She got 3rd place for her grade which really good because she had some pretty tough competition.

So - it's CO2 that makes the bubbles in soda pop! I wonder if that's what makes it taste so good, too. Probably not - that's probably all that sugar! Anyway, I know I like it. Congratulations on getting 3rd place. That is great, Lily. I'm so proud of you.
That is awesome, Lily! You did a great job. What an interesting project.
