Snow

Here is some pictures from the monster storm we had. One of our trees had three large branches break off the top but other then that no harm done. We got 18 inches the first day and another 8 inches that evening.

The Flu and other not so interesting things

Well, it was bound to happen to us eventually. The day after we got back from Utah Isaac came down with the H1N1 flu. Then Joe, then Lily and finally me. I got it on my birthday and have been so sick ever since. Along with the flu I got Conjunctivitis, a sinus infection, and Pneumonia. I went to the urgent care Saturday morning and started on Antibiotics. All I want is a good night sleep and to be able to eat something real. I'm sorry I haven't called anyone but I've lost my voice and I don't know when it's going to reappear. Clara and Dave haven't gotten sick yet but I'm sure it's coming.

Clara missed preschool last week because I was to sick to take her and the older kids did school but without any direction they didn't get very much done.

Clara also woke up with a tooth ache on Wednesday. I did drag myself out of bed and Dave and I took her to the dentist. She had a really bad cavity in one of her molar and the tooth was going to have to be pulled. We set up an appointment for the next day. While she was at the dentist get her tooth pulled, Lily lost a tooth at home. Actually, she lost the same tooth. They both got to put there tooth under there pillows and the tooth fairy only had to make one stop.

Dave's work collaboration had there US meeting in Fort Collins this past weekend (he missed most of Saturday's meeting take me to the doctor). They had a special dinner at a Asian restaurant on Friday night. It was really nice to be able to go with Dave and have him show me off. I couldn't talk so I mostly just sat there but it was fun still the same.

Lastly, Dave's work friends decided to take me to see the ballet on Saturday night. We were going to see "The man of La Mancha" at the Denver Ballet. We drove down in our van and saw the ballet, which was awesome. Then we went to Chile's and had dinner and they sang happy birthday to me (which I didn't dive under the table mom, I thought you should know). It was really fun, the only things is that it was 3 couples and me. I did feel a little like a 5th wheel but they did there best to make me feel comfortable and for that I'm grateful. Well, I better go. I didn't sleep much last night and I can feel it getting to me.

17 Finally!

Well, it's about time I celebrate my 17th birthday. For those of you that don't know, my family are Martians (that's why we're a bit odd) and so I count my birthdays in Martian years. Since it takes 687 Earth days to go around the Sun, I will be 17 on or about October 21th. I prefer to celebrate it on the Earth Day I was born October 11th though. This is a summary of my amazing birthday this year.

We gave Lily and Isaac the wish bone from our chicken soup a couple of weeks ago. Evidently it was too brittle because they both won or lost because it just broke to pieces.

We had Manicotti for Dinner and then we played games with the kids. I chose Apples to Apples because it was something we could all do together. We have the Junior version so I don't have to worry about Brittany Spears coming up in the cards. (Thank Goodness)

Dave made me the most awesome cake. It was a half white/half chocolate Raspberry Jell-0 poke cake with Whip Cream on top. He says he likes the challenge of making a cake for someone who doesn't like cake. Well, it was easily my favorite cake of all time. It was so delicious I'm going to be sick tomorrow from eating to much.

Dave gave me a new set of pot and pans, which were greatly needed. The kids got me a new muffin pan, a heart necklace, a cookbook and some some glasses. My mom also gave me some money and I was able to get a new record player for my living room - Thanks Mom!

It was basically a quite day but it was so much fun. We listened to records all day and just hung out. I'm really grateful I have such an awesome, amazing, great, caring, loving family. I don't know what I'd do without them.

P.S. I took the kids to get the presents. Dave wasn't feeling well but they really wanted me to get something. I went over to Ross and gave them some money and just hoped I wouldn't get legos. Joe is notorious for getting presents for himself when he goes to pick something out. Well, I saw him walking towards me with a present behind his back. He told me not to look but it was pretty hard not to see what it was, a Blue Bra. I just started to smile and told him to come closer. I said that bra's have to be a specific size so he couldn't just pick anyone out for me and I mentioned he could get a cookbook for me if he wanted. He just went "Oh" and handed me the bra to go pick out a cookbook instead. Just the fact that he picked out something that he new only I would want or need is really great. The image of him walking down the aisle holding a blue bra behind his back will be burned into my memory forever.

Snow?

Snow hit Fort Collins this weekend. I can't remember the last time it snowed this much before my birthday. It started last night when Dave and I went to see a movie and by the time we got out our windows were covered in ice. We then went over to Walmart to pick out my birthday present, it was so slick and scary. By the morning everything was covered. The kids wasted no time in putting on there snow stuff and running off to play in it.

Home again

We got back on Monday after being stranded somewhere in Wyoming during a freak October blizzard. I-80 was then closed because of a crash in the tunnel west of Rock Springs. It was a huge pain and took us hours but we finally made it home.

A few days before we left to come home Isaac started complaining of a sore throat and earache, Joe and I also started getting the same cold that Isaac had. By the time we got home Isaac was in extreme pain from his ear ache. We had been planning on going to Indiana to visit Dave's sister Kris, but had to put it off because of Isaac's earache. He is now on Antibiotics for it and thankfully it didn't burst. He still has fevers around 102 though, I can't wait for his meds to kick in.

Because most of us are sick we haven't gotten much school done this week. Isaac and Joe have been watching documentaries and I've been watching a lot of Ghost Whisperer. Lily has been helping with Clara and keeping the house clean (bless her heart, she did this on her own). I'm just grateful to be home and to have all of us in one piece.
