Galaxy Quilting & Embroidery

Well, I've done it.  Well, kind of. I created a Logo and blog galaxyquilting.blogspot.com for my new business.  I'm super excited and really really really nervous. I still need to open a bank acct and stuff but that can wait. I doubt that people will come rushing to my door now that I am open for business and I can't really call a blog open for business but it's a start. I know I need to tweak the blog quite a bit and eventually I want a real website but everything will come in time. Here is a link to the blog sight. Thanks everyone for being so supportive. I love doing this but I don't like putting myself out there. Well, I guess that's it. Can't wait for everyone to see what I come up with next.

Name

I finally decided on a name for my company.

Galaxy Quilting & Embroidery

I have a couple of reasons for choosing this name. 

1. I don't want to do run-of-the-mill quilts and embroidery. Of course I'll have cute stuff and country-ish stuff and fun stuff but I also want to do out their stuff and crazy stuff and unusual stuff. I feel that my stuff will encompass everything in the universe.
2. I have been making quilts for my mom and recently started on a quilt for my son Joe. The quilt is entitled "Spiral Galaxies" and it has some galaxy quilt blocks on it. Well, being the person I am I couldn't just do an all over pattern on such a cool quilt so I decided to design my own spiral galaxy block to stitch it with. So the first design I ever designed myself was a spiral galaxy. 
3. The third reason is probably Dave. Since he is in Astrophysics I kind of wanted a name that would represent us as a family. I love astronomy and anything to do with space so it kind of fits. I really liked Quantum Quilting but as someone pointed out, it might confuse people and it would be hard for many to spell. I agree since I'm a terrible speller and I want people to be able to find me.
4. ...and last because I like it. It just sounds right to me. It is everything I want in a name. 

I thought I would use the first block I designed as a logo. This is a couple of pictures of it. 

 

This is actually a little more advanced then my original design. This specific design is a remix of the original. The one I have on Joe's quilt is just the center spiral and not the outside spirals. I added those later to put on my son Isaac's quilt. His is blackholes and I designed it to fit perfectly on his but I still think it looks more like a galaxy and so I still want to use this design for the logo.

Clara's 6th Birthday

Well, we made it through another year. Our sweet Clara is finally 6 and it seems so strange to not have a baby around any more. Clara is such a great kid and we all love having her around. If you look through the pictures you'll notice a theme, Clara loves to pose in front of the camera. She'll often ask me to take several different poses of her in the same place. She cracks me up so much. She still loves anything soft and cuddly and sleeps with about a dozen stuffed animals. She likes any girly cartoon but doesn't mind watching stuff with the boys either. She likes to talk and pretend she is baby. She is still quite a spitfire. You don't want to be on the receiving end of one of her tyraids. She can scare even Isaac which is quite amusing. Here are a few things that she loved about this last year.

1. Finishing her last year of preschool
2. Playing with her new baby cousin
3. Drawing and coloring
4. Going camping
5. Our reunion in Bicknell
6. Staying at both Grandma's house
7. Starting kindergarten
