Drum Roll Please............ Becka's Quilting and Embroidery
Actually, that's not what I plan on calling it. I don't want my name in the title but I do want to show how much I love making quilts and embroidering and show off my quirky (unique) personality. I haven't been able to think of any good names and was hoping people who read this blog (which can't be that many) would vote and let me know what you think. Suggestions would also be appreciated since I'm kind of at a loss right now. Dave and I spent the night on a band name generator and this is what we came up with.
- Confidential Quilting - for the jobs you don't want anyone to know about.
- Compass Quilting
- Quilting Tonic
- Zippy Quilting - I laughed right out loud when I saw this one.
- Ultimate Quilting - Kind of like Ultimate Ninja but in quilting
- Desire Quilting
- Quilting Storm - This reminds me of my friend Sharane....I'm not sure why ;)
- The Quilting Fiend - I love this one but I'm not sure it would draw in customers.
- Plethora of Quilts
- The Quilting Gremlin
- Quilting Carnival
- Symphony Quilting
- Careful Quilting- This was a lot better than careless quilting. I think my favorite was makeshift quilting.
- Neutron Quilting- This takes me back to my chemistry days at the U....Ahhh, I miss school.
- Optimal Quilting
- Beethoven of Quilting
- ...and my personal favorite. Quantum Quilting and Embroidery
My quilting machine is really just a sewing machine on a quilting table. I did get a computerized mechanism for it though which makes my stitches really accurate and beautiful. Right now I'm doing quilts my mom gave me. She has been so patient because it's taken a lot longer to get things set up than I thought it would.
She also is the one who gave me the embroidery machine which I love even if I can't show you. I had a really really old program (Win 98) and it wouldn't work on my computer anymore. I bought some new software but I have to wait for a new card reader before I can use it on my machine so right now I'm just in limbo. Hopefully I will be able to put some examples up here soon.
Here are some samples of the quilts I've done recently for my mom. All of these have all over patterns but I'm going to be doing some more intricate designs on some quilts within the next week.
Baby Blanket. This has an all over rose bud design in pink. It has minky on the back and is so cuddly and warm. I think I'd like to do some more quilts with minky because it is so fun. This is the first one I did with my new set up and it turned out great but I learned a lot.
It's hard to see that this is minky but because it's so thick you can see the rose design really well.
Baby Blanket - This one has cars and trucks and things on the quilt so I did the same for the quilting. It is so cute and is one of my favorites. I used red thread on the top and bottom to highlight the pattern. I love this quilt.
The back of the car quilt.
This is my set up. This is me working on my niece Julia's quilt. Her birthday was in January and I was having a heck of a time getting the quilt done until I got my new set up completed. It only took me 3 days to finish 3 quilts and that was with me doing a lot of reading and research along the way. When I get good I'll be able to go even faster.
Julia's finished quilt. Her pattern was a butterfly/flower design. I have a program that will create patterns for me and I made a section of the quilt pattern and then mirrored across the quilt. It turned out so cute.
You can kind of see the mirrored pattern on here.
This quilt I finished in October for my niece Mia. It has a similiar pattern to Julia's but it's not quite the same. It also turned out so cute. I'm pretty proud of myself.
So there you have it. Questions, comments and concearns are always appreciated just remember I cry easily. I can't wait to show you more and hopefully I can get on some quilts that I've made instead of just my mom.

I like Quantum Quilting for some reason. It just speaks to me that it is you guys ... maybe because of the science reference and Dave?
Anyway, good luck. Have fun!
I kind of like Ultimate Quilting. Isn't there an Ultimate Fighting or Fighter or something, too? :) BUT if you're going to have your name in the phone book, it would be nice to not have it start with U, which makes it clear at the end of the alphabet!
I also like Quantum Quilting, but I wonder if people would be confused (since quantum is not in most people's vocabulary). They might not understand what it is?
It might help to have a blog for your business where you can post all of your work so people can see it in one place. Check out this one that I've looked at for ideas: http://piecenquilt.blogspot.com/.
Anyway, those quilts are super awesome!! You've done such a good job. Next time we get to come visit, I definitely want to see you in action! :)
I just looked at the quilting up close--and it is all so awesome! The little cars and trains look great. And I love the minky quilt, too. I made one for Britta for her birthday and I might need one for me, too! It's so soft!
The quilts are so cute. I love them.
How about Quiltmania or Creative Quilting and Embroidery or Custom Quilting and Embroidery?
