Starting tomorrow I'm going to be homeschooling my kids. Joe has had a lot of problems this year and Dave and I started thinking about homeschooling him near the beginning of the school year. Lily also has been really struggling in her new class. In many ways she is right where she needs to be but at a huge price. She's not sleeping, playing, or doing anything other than homework. Things got really bad for Lily a couple of weeks ago and that's when Dave and I decided to pull her out for the rest of the year and since Joe is already having huge problems we were planning on pulling him out too. Isaac was feeling really bad that he had to go to school while the others get to stay home. I gave him the option and told him how hard homeschool was going to be. He still chose to do homeschool so he will be with us as well.
I have been reading a lot on homeschooling since September and have been preparing the house for months. The program we are going to do is pretty intense in many ways but gives us a lot more flexibility on what we want to learn. It should be interesting for the next couple of months while we work out the kinks but I am really excited. In many ways I hope Isaac sees that it isn't going to be fun and chooses to go back to school but either way I think he'll be happy.
So, as of tomorrow we are officially the crazy family on the block. I just thought I'd let everyone know and this seemed the best way to do it. Clara is still attending her preschool and loves it and the school district will still let us participate in art and music, so they'll still get to see there friends. Hopefully this will help a lot of there problems but I guess only time will tell.
