I finally got home yesterday afternoon. Once they said I could go home we had 4 different people come in within a 10 min period, some for no real reason at all. I reminded me how much I wanted to get out of there.
Once we got home I went with my Mom to get meds and dinner and I again realized how very sick I still am. I came home so sick and weak that I could barely sit up for dinner. I went to bed pretty early and although I still woke up every couple of hours it was so nice to just lean over and take my medicine and go back to sleep. I woke up at 5 or 6 and needed some Tylenol 3 and couldn't get the container open so I asked Dave to; and because it was so hard I put several pills into a pill container so I wouldn't have to get into it anytime soon.
My day went really well. I went to my I.V. appt where I get my antibiotics. It's in outpatient Oncology and it's a little depressing knowing that most of the people there have cancer and are getting chemo but the nurses were so nice and I had my Mom to talk to. After we came home Dave and I had to pick up Lily early from school. She has been on a 3 day trip for Eco Week and since they got back early she asked if we'd pick her up. We went grocery shopping (not a lot but stuff for snacks and dinner) and picked up the boys.
When I got back I was feeling crappier then ever. At 5 I went and took my Tylenol 3 again hoping the pain would get better even though it had been bad all day. After I took my Ibuprofen and T3 I realized that the Tylenol 3 pills are a slightly different color. I then looked over and noticed that the bottle I had Dave open was Prednisone. I was and am still so mad at myself. No Tylenol 3 and I was in so much pain and Prednisone the very thing that got me into so much trouble in the first place.
Prednisone is anti-inflammatory so it kept my swelling down in my kidney. My body just let the abscess grow like it was an invited guest. Once I got off the prednisone the pain started to return but if it wasn't for a small twinge in my right side (and I mean very small) they wouldn't have found anything and would have sent me home to become septic. Super lucky aren't I. The doctor was shocked, I was shocked, all the nurses were shocked. Well anyways, I took 4 prednisone today. I called my doctor and he said to just not do it again. I guess the only good thing that can come out of this is that maybe the steroids will bring down my inflammation again so I have less pain.
