Minion the Beetle

...or at least that is what his name sounded like through Isaac's sobs. I don't actually know what his name was to tell you the truth.

Isaac went up to bed and came down crying a few minutes later. His pet beetle that we got last week on our way home from Utah had died. He had been really frustrated because he couldn't find anything for it to eat and was starting to get worried about him.

I am always amazed at that kids heart. I know he is the biggest tease of any kid I've ever known (except maybe Adam) and that he spends his days trying to find new ways to torment everyone around him but he truly has the biggest heart. He is usually the first to comfort someone who is hurt and if there is a toddler or baby in the room he's also the first to play with it. What a great kid he is.

He cried in my lap for a half an hour, asking me if his beetle was going to beetle heaven and if he'd ever see him again some day. Of course this also brought up his grasshopper George that died last week. I'm not sure what we're going to do when the tadpoles turn into frogs and start eating crickets.

I asked Isaac this morning what his name was and he told me it was Magrit.

Poor little Isaac. I'm glad he has such a tender heart - but it's going to make his life a lot harder. Oh well, there's always another beetle.
