We went camping up Poudre Canyon on Wednesday. Long Draw Reservoir is directly behind Rocky Mountain National Park. It reminds me so much of Smith & Morehouse except maybe less busy. The elevation was over 10,000. We stayed until Saturday and had a great time. All the neighborhood kids started school on Tuesday so the camp grounds were almost empty which was grea

Joe spent almost the entire trip reading. We got him onto the Magic Treehouse books and he can finish one in about a half an hour.
Dave took Lily and Isaac on a hike to the top of a mountain. The continental divide was right there which made the hike extra cool. At the top they found this meadow and instead of admiring it's beauty they did what most kids would do - sword fight.
They came down on the wrong path and ended up on the wrong side of the dam. They had to climb over the spill way to get back onto the right side. I'm glad I wasn't there I would have freaked.
Then Dave challenged Lily to go into the water up to her chin. Isaac didn't need someone to challenge him. He just did it because he wanted to.
At night we read books and asked questions from the game "Loaded Questions". We cooked smores and breaksticks with cinnimon and sugar on them.
This is Clara on the last day. She was trying to show me some bug she found on the ground. We had a great time. I called it our school kick off, camp off. I think we'll make this a yearly tradition.

Looks like you had a lot of fun!! I wish we lived closer and could do things like that together. Since Indiana is mostly farm land, there aren't a lot of places to camp. And the few places you can go are all tiny state parks. It's a little strange, so we're looking forward to the day when we can be back in the West.
Looks like those kids had a great time! Except Lily doesn't look like she's having too much fun in that cold water. Clara was so cute to help wash dishes. I hope she keeps thinking it's fun. That would be very good. And Isaac has a big grin on in his face in every picture. I know that usually means he's having fun or he's teasing somebody. Joe looks like he's having fun, even if he isn't the outdoor type. What fun! I'm so sorry I missed it. I hope to see you all soon.
That looks like it was too much fun! Your kids are getting so big.
